About Rev. Richard Holcomb

Reverend Richard brings a wealth of experience in public speaking, performance and teaching as well as business training. He holds a Masters Degree in English and has taught English classes at both High School and College levels. He is also an accomplished actor and spent seven years acting at the Guthrie Theater.

The father of three grown children, Rick feels blessed to have experienced the joys of those life-changing moments in their lives, thus far, though none are married. He feels equally blessed when selected to participate in such life-changing moments with couples who are about to begin a new journey together.

His religious background is wide and varied and he accepts what beliefs and rituals each individual and couple finds meaningful for their ceremony. He believes the more the ritual reflects who the persons involved truly are, the more meaningful and lasting the ceremony will be for everyone.

Rick understands the importance of making the ceremony a welcoming and joyous experience. Having managed and supervised customer service departments for two large, non-profit organizations, he is comfortable in taking a leadership role to ensure the success of each event. Being semi-retired, Rick thoroughly enjoys the interaction with couples and families on their special occasion. He hopes to reflect his inner compassion and joy and to provide respect and integrity to these important life experiences. For him, it is a privilege and honor to participate with couples and families at this time in their lives.

“Dear Rick, Jack and I feel extremely lucky to have found you! You were absolutely exceptional officiating our October wedding at Semple Mansion. We appreciated your professionalism, positive personality and willingness to incorporate a little humor into our ceremony. Best of all, we received numerous compliments form our family and friends on your officiating.” ~ Jack & Susan, October 2011

Rev. Richard, thank you so much for performing our ceremony. You really did a great job! The weather was a bit warmer the we wanted but it went really well and was truly beautiful!” ~ Brian & Andrea, September 2011

Rev. Holcomb was great! I was worried about having someone who didn't "know" us perform our wedding ceremony, but our only other option was to have a friend of ours become ordained and do our ceremony as my husband and I do not have any religious affiliations. I was not comfortable with the friend route since I preferred to have a professional, so we went with Affordable I Do's based on a recommendation from our photographer. I am glad we did. Rev. Holcomb immediately put me at ease. He was professional, timely, prepared, dressed appropriately, he took his time and did not make us feel rushed, he has a very good ceremony pace, intonation, and voice, he also made sure to take care of ALL of the details...which is HUGE when you have a bunch of other things you are worrying about. We were able to completely customize our ceremony, but were provided with all the direction we needed, which I appreciated.” ~ Joe & Veronique, September 2010

“Dear Susan, I wanted to let you know that Rev. Holcomb did an outstanding job officiating our wedding.  Both Stuart and I were very pleased with how he performed our marriage ceremony. We felt like he was one of our friends!   Thanks once again for making our day so special!” ~ Margaret & Stuart, May 2011

“Dear Richard,
